Fogo island explorer 7nights

Accommodation in twin share, en-suite rooms on a breakfast only basis throughout (dinner is included at Pedra Brabo which has shared bathrooms), return airport transfers on Sal, Fogo and Santiago, 1 x return inter-island flight per person, 3 x full day guided excursions with transfers and lunch, half day orientation tours of Sao Filipe and Praia, visas, island representation and air ticket reconfirmation. PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO THE LIMITED NUMBER OF GUIDES ON THE ISLANDS THERE MAY BE OTHER PEOPLE WITH YOU.

International flights (we will look for the best flight for your chosen date of departure). Meals not specified above and insurance. Additional excursions on free days.

There are lots of different international flight options to Cape Verde, so whenever we give you a flight quotation, we will quote you the cheapest and most appropriate available price.

Day 1 Arrive Sal. Transfer to Hotel Morabeza.

You will be met in Sal airport and transferred to your hotel in Santa Maria (20 minutes).

Day 2 Fly to Fogo via Santiago. Guided walking tour of Sao Filipe.

Today you will be transferred to the airport (20 minutes) for your flight to Fogo stopping at Santiago on the way. On arrival in Fogo you will be transferred to your accommodation (10 minutes) and then go on a guided walking tour of Sao Filipe in the afternoon. This lovely town is full of Portuguese architecture (squares, wide streets and colonial style houses) much of it painted in pretty pastels.

Day 3 Transfer to Cha das Caldeiras. Guided walking tour.

This morning you will drive up to the mountains for your overnight inside the crater with views of Pico de Fogo dominating your accommodation. After arrival, you will go on a short guided walking tour through the village you are staying in and the wine cooperative nearby.

Day 4 Transfer to Sao Filipe.

Today you will return to Sao Filipe but take the scenic route stopping to see the coastal village of Cova Figueira, Mosteiros and Sao Jorge.

Day 5 Free day.

Free day to explore the pretty colonial town of Sao Filipe and enjoy the hotel's swimming pool.

Day 6 Fly to Santiago. Guided tour of Praia.

Today you will be transferred to the airport (10 minutes) for your flight to Santiago. You will be transferred from Santiago airport to your accommodation in Praia (10 minutes) and then go on an orientation tour of Praia with one of our guides visiting the busy fruit and vegetable market and the cultural palace museum.

Day 7 Full day tour of Santiago.

Your guided tour today includes a visit to Rui Vaz which involves travelling along a spectacular mountain road and then to Cidade Velha, the former capital of Santiago. Now just a shadow of its former self, you will visit the historical Fortress behind the town and some of its churches and of course the poignant pillory post where slaves were tied and whipped.

Day 8 Transfer to airport. Depart Santiago.

Today you will be transferred to the airport (10 minutes) for your return/onward flight.
