This week, you'll be guided around the island visiting the green mountainous west and its coastal villages and also the lunar arid landscape of the east and its spectacular volcanic rock formations. With two free days to enjoy the pretty town of Ribeira Brava, this is a relaxing but interesting week.

Sao Nicolau island explorer 7nights

Accommodation in twin share, en-suite rooms on a breakfast only basis, return airport transfers on Sal and Sao Nicolau, 1 x return inter-island flight per person, 2 x full day excursions on Sao Nicolau with transfers and lunch, visas, island representation and air ticket reconfirmation.

International flights (we will look for the best flight for your chosen date of departure). Meals not specified above and insurance. Additional excursions on free days.

There are lots of different international flight options to Cape Verde, so whenever we give you a flight quotation, we will quote you the cheapest and most appropriate available price.

Day 1 Arrive Sal. Transfer to Hotel Morabeza.

You will be met in Sal airport and transferred to your hotel in Santa Maria (20 minutes).

Day 2 Guided Altiplano walk (6-7 hours : Grade - Medium)

This lovely long walk along the spine of Sao Nicolau gives you a great views to each side of the island. The first hour of this walk is uphill but once you are on the spine the route undulates along at quite an easy pace. The path is a mix of dirt and rock tracks and covers the barren, crater filled part of the island in contrast with the lush valleys to the west. This walk can be shortened as necessary.

Day 3 Full day tour to the east of the island including Juncalinho

This morning, you head east along the north coast of the island and the barren lunar landscape towards Juncalinho. You'll stop to see beaches where dolphins are occasionally spotted and the volcanic cliff formations.

Day 4 Free day in Ribeira Brava.

Free day to explore the pretty town of Ribeira Brava with its colourful houses and gardens wedged into the narrow valley.

Day 5 Full day tour to the west of the island including Monte Gordo NP

A full day tour to the lush west of the island and the plantation covered mountains and pretty valleys. You'll also get to visit the Monte Gordo Natural Park and see some of the work being done to build walking paths and nurture the endemic vegetation.

Day 6 Free day.

Free day to explore the pretty town of Ribeira Brava with its colourful houses and gardens wedged into the narrow valley.

Day 7 Fly to Sal.

Today you will be transferred to the airport (15 minutes) for your flight to Sal. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your accommodation in Santa Maria (20 minutes).

Day 8 Transfer to airport. Depart Sal.

Today you will be transferred to the airport (20 minutes) for your return/onward flight.
